The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, January 10, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A powerful storm will push into eastern Canada today, but
strong winds will continue in its wake in the Northeast,
causing ongoing power outages. Even as heavy rain tapers
off, runoff and flooding will progress from small streams to
the larger rivers into the end of the week. Snow will taper
to flurries, but gusty winds will lead to blowing and
drifting snow. A small storm will spread snow from the
Dakotas to Minnesota and western Wisconsin and will aid in a
southward plunge of colder air into the northern Plains and
Rockies. Rain will fall along the coast from Washington to
Central California. However, snow levels will lower from
north to south over the Cascades as snow falls on much of
the interior Northwest with difficult travel. Areas from
Southern California to the Carolinas will be free of rain.
