I was desperate to be a WAG but now I’ve bagged a footballer it’s nowhere near as glamorous as I was expecting
DREAMING of the glamorous life of a footballers wife, going for endless spa days and shopping sprees?
One girl has revealed that after bagging herself a footballer man, she realised the life of a WAG wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Lauren Timbrell shared the revelation via a video posted to her TikTok channel @lauren_timbrell.
In the video, Lauren said: “When I said I wanted to be a WAG, this wasn’t what I had in mind”.
WAG is an acronym for “wives and girlfriends” and refers to the partners of professional sportspeople.
Famous WAGS include Wagatha Christie herself, Colleen Rooney (wife of Wayne), Posh Spice Victoria Beckham (wife of David) and Girls Aloud‘s Cheryl (ex-wife of Ashley Cole).
These women can often be seen in the press leading glamorous lifestyles, going to fancy restaurants and driving around in very expensive cars.
However, Lauren’s experience of the WAG life has been somewhat different.
In the video, she can be seen on a cold night, wrapped up warm with a scarf covering the bottom part of her face.
An unimpressed Lauren then panned the camera round to a rundown football pitch, where a group of boys were playing a game of, presumably non-league ,football.
A shivering Lauren then showed viewers the stands, revealing that she was the only person watching the football game.
As Lauren sat in the stands, she munched on some chips and a KitKat and drank a Lucozade to help her get through the freezing cold experience.
The supportive girlfriend stayed for the whole game and, after the match, a beaming Lauren revealed that her boyfriend’s team had won 2-1, and that he had scored both goals.
Maybe one day he will make it big and she can finally live the WAG life of her dreams.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Lauren’s video.
One user said: “What did you expect? A Range Rover or something”
Another user said: “You’ve got to start somewhere”.
Tagging a friend, another wannabe WAG commented: “We don’t even get seats”.
