A bipartisan Assembly task force has released a package of bills to combat human trafficking. Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos created the 13-member task force in August to explore solutions to human trafficking. The panel held four hearings with police and nonprofit organizations that support trafficking victims in September, October and November. The task force introduced 11 bills on Wednesday, among them proposals to create a human trafficking council; mandatory education on human trafficking for teachers, group home employees and beauty schools; tougher penalties for soliciting prostitution; and making it easier for victims to file civil lawsuits against their traffickers.
