'Concern for hygiene': Jamie Raskin delivers biting putdown in retort to GOP colleague
During a congressional hearing Wednesday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) got into a heated debate about former President Donald Trump and the U.S. Constitution's emoluments clause.
Under the clause, government officials are prohibited from receiving gifts from foreign governments without the permission of Congress.
When Raskin discussed foreign business at Trump's hotels, Donalds remarked, "Have you ever stayed at a Trump hotel, Mr. Raskin?"
Raskin's response was both biting and humorous.
Raskin told the Florida congressman, "No, and I never would stay at a Trump hotel. I've got too much self-respect and concern for hygiene."
