LASG URGES COMMUNITY LEADERS TO SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF LAGOS
As part of the efforts of the State Government in ensuring that Lagos State becomes a 21st Century Economy, Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje has urged Community Leaders to support and commit to the development of the State through self-help projects.
Agbaje made this call in his keynote address delivered at the leadership training programme organised for members of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council held today at the Secretariat, Alausa.
He urged the participants to ensure that self-help projects initiated and executed by Community Development Associations are in tandem with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda of the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
The Special Adviser applauded the efforts of the Governor in ensuring that Community Leaders are equipped with the needed information that would help them align their self-help projects with the policy of his administration.
He assured them that the seminar would meet the strategic and critical needs of equipping Community Leaders with tools for strategic partnership and community development.
Agbaje equally urged participants to pay keen attention to all the information that they would be exposed to in the course of the training and translate it to ideas that can be initiated and executed for community development at the grassroots.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa informed the participants that the training is geared towards acquainting stakeholders of the Community Development Advisory Council with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda of Mr. Governor and how to consolidate efforts with the government in the development of the State.
While thanking Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his relentless efforts in ensuring development at the grassroots and for constantly engaging Community Leaders in governance as well as in the development of the State, she submitted that the training would help Community Leaders identify their roles and place in the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the State Government.
She noted that the training will equip Community Leaders with requisite tools that would engender strategic partnerships among community development associations in the State.
The Chairman, Lagos State Community Advisory Council, Alhaji Azeez Amusat lauded the Governor for prioritising leadership training such as the workshop for them, adding that the training affirms the commitment of Mr. Governor to the Council and the development of Communities at the grassroots.
Alhaji Azeez assured that the Council will ensure it contributes its’ quota in ensuring that development in Communities through self-help projects would be evident across the State towards Making Lagos State a 21st Century Economy.
In attendance at the leadership training are members of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, members of the Community Development Committee and the Heads of Agric Department across the 57 Councils with paper presentations from seasoned facilitators.
