Shock return for fan favourite as family throw Coronation Street homecoming party
ONE Corrie family is set to be whole again next week after the long-awaited return of a fan favourite character.
Next week in Coronation Street, the clan finally gets good news after fearing the worst for another loved one.
The Winter-Brown family have faced a multitude of obstacles in recent months, particularly due to Paul Foreman’s motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis.
After being diagnosed with the disease, the builder portrayed by Peter Ash learned that he only had a handful of months left to live and Christmas 2023 would be his very last one.
Determined to help provide for him as Paul had to give up on his work due to his progressive loss of mobility, his mother Bernie Winter (portrayed by Jane Hazlegrove) worked out a plan with Big Garth.
But it all backfired on her when she was arrested for handling stolen goods and sentenced to three months in prison in late 2023.
This meant Bernie would be unable to spend Paul’s last Christmas with him as she had no other choice but to serve a minimum of half of her sentence.
Paul has been left to struggle more than ever during his mother’s absence and he’s in need of a wheelchair.
Meanwhile, his twin sister Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) faced terrible accusations according to which she had poisoned her stepson Joseph Brown.
Gemma has had to face an investigation as social services looked into the matter but she was thus forced to leave her family home and her children with her husband Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).
Luckily for the family, good news finally reaches them as Bernie Winter returns to Weatherfield next week.
Coming up on ITV, having been released from prison after serving half of her sentence, Bernie calls at the Rovers.
But once she arrives, she’s over the moon to find that Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), Paul and his husband Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) have thrown her a surprise party.
Will it go according to plan?
While this remains to be seen, Bernie won’t be the only one returning to the cobbles.
At No.5, Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) complains of a temperature and while Gemma is concerned, Chesney’s adamant he’s fine.
