The sun peeped out after two days of fog on Wednesday, but icy winds from snow-clad mountains led to the maximum temperature slipping by 6.6 notches below normal, making it the season's first 'severe cold day'. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh western disturbance has brought snowfall to parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, due to which the cold spell is likely to continue for the next two days. Strong winds dissolved the upper layer of fog, improving visibility as well as air quality.
