I didn’t want to fork out £1k on a fireplace from The Range, so I made my own for just £7 and it’s transformed the room
A DIY whizz has set out to prove that you haven’t got to spend a small fortune to make a huge difference in your home.
A woman named Ria Jodie explained how she spotted a fireplace in The Range that she fell in love with, only, at £928, it was well out of her budget.
So, the savvy homeowner decided to get creative and make her own for cheaper – using bargain buys and freebies that she snapped up from Facebook Marketplace.
Ria took to money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK and posted a snap of the 48 inch Fireplace Aviemore Stove in black that she was hoping to replicate.
She then posted several photos showing off her very impressive handiwork.
Alongside the images, she penned: “Seen this fireplace from the Range for nearly £1k decided to try and make my own.
“Got the fire for free off Facebook marketplace and paid £7 for the tiles also on Marketplace (sold at B&Q for £25 a box so still cheap considering) all I need now is to find a fire or do I keep the flowers?”
She added: “Just a tip for people who want to jazz up their fireplace without spending hundreds.”
The post has since racked up a whopping £379 likes and over 78 comments from homeowners up and down the country.
“Good idea I’d get the fireplace keep eye on market place – looks great BTW,” praised one.
A second enthused: “Beautiful!”
A third noted: “Looks amazing – well done!”
Meanwhile, a fourth added: “I have that fireplace didn’t get it from the range. It was a bit cheaper than that but if my husband sees this post I’m bloody I’m for it.”
Another commented: “I’ve been playing with this idea too they sell the whole fire suite in B&M for £99 but I couldn’t find a store that has them in, so I just bought the fire off Amazon and not done a fire place yet.”
