I jump in bins to rummage through the rubbish for goodies – people are stunned when I show off my Bobbi Brown gems
A DUMPSTER diver has shared her impressive haul after she went rooting in the bins outside a beauty store.
Melanie Diaz shared her bin finds via a video posted to her TikTok channel @meldidumpsterdive, where she often posts skip and dumpster hauls.
Dumpster diving means looking in bins (usually outside shops or restaurants) to find things that have been thrown away by the shop owners and taking them to either use or resell.
Technically, taking from a bin is theft, although, whether it is illegal or not depends on the motivation of the person taking the items and whether they have a rightful owner.
In the video, the dumpster diver can be seen climbing inside a skip outside US beauty store Ulta.
With her hands protected by plastic gloves, she rooted around and amongst the used packaging and manky bin bags, found a goldmine.
With a large smile of her face, Melanie showed the camera an array of different products, including the Bobbi Brown Face Base (worth over £50), foundation, and mascara.
Some of the products that she found were testers, so had likely been used before but some of the products were unopened.
The dumpster diver then headed home with her stash and went to try it out.
Presumably after washing the products, Melanie applied her bin finds to her face.
First up, she tried the face base, a large smile on her face as she rubbed the moisturising primer onto her skin.
Then she applied the foundation and mascara and posed for the camera, evidently overjoyed with her free makeup.
The video is sure to have left many open mouthed as it racked up an impressive 1.3 million views.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Melanie’s dumpster jackpot.
One user said: “A great Bobbi Brown score, yesss”.
Another user added: “That Bobbi Brown cream is amazing!”
A third user chimed in: “I want to do this, seems like it would be fun”.
