Pedestrian crossing road in Bridgeport struck by car, seriously injured
A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a car in Bridgeport on Tuesday.
The crash was reported around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Beechmont Avenue and Springdale Street where police, firefighters and medics responded and found a man suffering from serious injuries, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital, police said. His condition has not been made clear.
According to police, investigators believe the pedestrian was walking south on Beechmont Avenue when he was struck by a 2011 Nissan Altima heading in the same direction.
The driver stopped following the crash and remained at the scene, according to police. She has been cooperative with the investigation, police said.
According to police, a male passenger in the Nissan was arrested at the scene on an unrelated criminal charge.
