Morrisons shopper branded ‘greedy & shameless’ for grabbing 18 gammon joints after they were reduced to just £1.50 each
A MORRISONS shopper has been branded ‘greedy’ and ‘shameless’ for grabbing 18 gammon joints after they were reduced.
The bargain hunter was left totally stunned whilst in the supermarket when he noticed that the meat joints were slashed to just £1.50 each.
Thrilled with the finds, the shopper stocked up on the cheap buys and took to social media to show off his large haul.
Posting on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a private Facebook group with a staggering 2.4 million members, Hayden Lee shared a picture of his fridge, full up with the gammon joints, as well as a snap of his receipt.
He wrote: “I picked up a nice little bargain from Morrisons tonight. I just about managed to get it into the fridge at work.”
But after receiving a lot of comments accusing him of being greedy, he later explained: “I guess some “the very small minority of the group” don’t like grabbing a bargain, just to clarify for them.
“18 joints of gammon were purchased for THREE households, they will be frozen and used throughout the year.
“Some people, at least four in front of me, took what they wanted as I waited patiently and then took what I wanted.
“If you don’t want to save yourself money by “bulk buying” when you see an amazing deal then that’s your choice. Have a wonderful day and happy bargain hunting!”
Hayden shared his post just 15 hours ago, but it has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 831 likes and 227 comments.
But social media users were left divided at the post – while some thought it was ‘shameless’ that Hayden bought so much, others claimed that they would have done the same.
One person said: “Would be good if you left some for other people.”
Another added: “There are others that need a bargain. Nice of you to be so thoughtful. You obviously don’t if you can afford to spend £40 on a haul of meat in the middle of January.”
A third commented: “I don’t understand how people can applaud this. Let’s hope an elderly person with not very much didn’t miss out on a bargain because you took it all.”
Someone else claimed: “Three per household would have been more than enough. This is just greed.”
Whilst another agreed: “Shameless.”
However, at the same time, others were impressed at Hayden’s finds.
One bargain hunter penned: “Good for you. Love a good yellow label haul.”
A second chimed in: “Great bargains. Well done for being in the right place at the right time. Enjoy.”
Whilst a savvy shopper shared: “Well done, I would have cleared the shelves too!”
