Report: Bayern Munich were ‘confident’ Dragusin would pick them over Spurs
The Times have revealed that Bayern Munich were confident on Tuesday that Radu Dragusin would choose them over Tottenham Hotspur.
A couple of days ago, it was widely reported that Dragusin’s future was on a knife edge after Genoa accepted offers from both Spurs and Bayern for the centre-back.
This was reported by several sources including Gianluca Di Marzio, who added that the 21-year-old was holding talks with his representatives about both offers and was taking time to make a decision.
In the end, the Romanian international chose Spurs, with reports from Italy indicating that the prospect of playing in the Premier League was a big factor while the player also felt more wanted by the Lilywhites, who had held a long-term interest in him (GSP via Sport Witness).
Bayern were confident of winning Dragusin race
The Times have now explained that Bayern were confident until Tuesday night that Dragusin would ‘pick them’ after submitting a ‘last-minute offer’.
However, it is explained that Ange Postecoglou spoke to the centre-back and informed him that he would be given regular opportunities in North London.
That message is alleged to have been key in persuading Dragusin to move to the Premier League side over the Bundesliga outfit.

At 21 years of age, Dragusin’s priority would have been getting regular game time and also challenging himself as a footballer. Both of those are more likely to happen at Spurs.
In fact, one can argue that even though Bayern are a huge club, the Bundesliga is a step down from the Serie A in terms of quality and a switch to Bavaria would have thus not helped the youngster improve his game.
