My hair fell out so my boyfriend spent 4 years growing a 2ft mane for a wig, we’d only been dating 6 months when I asked
ONE woman’s boyfriend embodied the phrase “What’s mine is yours” after she lost her hair.
Hannah Hosking’s partner Cody Ennis spent almost four years growing a two-foot-long wig just for her.
After just six months of dating, the 31-year-old decided to grow his corporate haircut out to give his bald girlfriend a human hairpiece.
Hannah, 27, jokingly requested 30 inches of hair because she loves long ‘dos but warned him it would take three or four years.
The engineer was unfazed by the challenge and let nature take its course, starting his hairy journey in May 2020.
As his locks started to reach his chin, Cody sought professional help to ensure his hair was in tip-top condition.
Following online tutorials, Cody diligently washed and conditioned his hair regularly and sported it in styles like braids that would be gentle on it.
He even donned a satin bonnet to bed to combat dryness and prevent frizz and breakage.
In October, when his hair hit 29 inches, a barber relative snipped off his mane and they posted them off to a wig-maker.
On January 6, Hannah was thrilled to receive the $899 lace-front wig in the mail and surprised Cody by wearing it when he woke up.
Hannah said she’s most excited to wash it and see his natural curls form as it’s similar to the hairstyle she sported before alopecia claimed her hair.
“Five years ago [when my hair started falling out] I started looking sick so then I just shaved it all off,” she explained.
Hannah met Cody in November 2019 and said he loved her bald head as it meant hair didn’t tickle him when they cuddled.
“When I met Cody he had a short, cute haircut that looked very ‘9-5 job,'” she said.
“I don’t know exactly what made him want to grow his hair out for me, he just looked at me one day and was like ‘If I grew my hair out for you, how long would you want it?'” Hannah shared.
Cody said he’d love her to wear the wig on their wedding day but has yet to pop the question.
“When the wig arrived I was so excited, I cried,” said Hannah, who works as a content creator.
“It won’t be an everyday wig for me because I want it to last as long as possible,” the Michigan native revealed.
“Receiving this three-and-a-half-year gift in the making was overwhelming,” she explained.
“It feels surreal, it feels like a movie, I can’t believe he dedicated so long of his life and his time into doing this for me,” she said.
Hannah said that she felt “very comforted and safe” to know Cody was “willing to go this extra mile.”
She was diagnosed with alopecia at the age of seven when she developed bald patches that initially were easily hidden.
However, the hair loss eventually accelerated, including her eyebrows and eyelashes.
When his hair reached the right length Hannah found a suitable wigmaker, Florida Fancies, and the couple prepared for the big haircut.
“I started to put his hair into sections to cut it but then we both got nervous that I was going to cut it wrong so asked my cousin who is a barber to do it,” she said.
“We wrapped each individual section we cut off in paper towels, bagged them up, and sent them on their way,” Hannah added.
“When the wig arrived it felt like a dream, I couldn’t believe it was here,” she said.
“When I first looked at myself in the mirror I felt loved and so much love for him,” Hannah explained.
“I figured if I grew my hair out for her she couldn’t break up with me,” Cody joked.
