Hollywood megastar snaps up jaw-dropping £2.3m Scottish Castle with locals spotting him in area
JEDI Master Ewan McGregor has summoned the force to buy a £2.35 million Scottish eco-mansion.
The 52-year-old is thought to have snapped up the 60-room house in May – paying £200,000 above the asking price.
The 18th century pile comes complete with a billiards room, wine cellar, gun room, tennis court and 18.5 acres of lush parkland.
Marketed as one of the area’s “finest country houses“, the 15,874 square foot pad is spread over four floors and boasts a whopping 10 bedrooms.
There is even a two-bed flat for staff, while a two-bed gatekeeper’s house with gardens greets visitors at the impressive stone pillar entrance.
The house, some of which dates back to 1789, includes three reception rooms, a family room, study and a 1930s conservatory.
A summer house and six different outbuildings, including a game larder and workshop, also feature.
The plot enjoys views overlooking the stunning Scottish countryside and sweeping farmland.
While an on-site biomass heater will keep Scotland-born Ewan – now a naturalised US citizen – toasty.
And he could make £170,000 over 11-years selling power to the grid via the Scots government’s Renewable Heat Incentive.
Publicly available documents obtained by The Sun show the house was last purchased in 2002 for around £800,000.
The dad-of-five – who shot to fame as heroin-addled Mark Renton in Danny Boyle’s 1996 classic Trainspotting – was raised in Crieff where his mum and dad were teachers.
Ewan achieved global stardom as Jedi Obi Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy between 1999–2005, reprising the role in Disney’s 2022 miniseries.
He divorced wife of 22-years Eve Mavrakis in 2018 following an alleged affair, they have four daughters.
The Golden Globe winner married Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead in a low-key outdoor ceremony in Los Angeles last year, they have a son.
A source said: “Ewan bought the house a few months back.
“He paid over £2 million for it. It’s one of the biggest houses in the area and has everything you need.”
Ewan McGregor’s management were approached for comment.
