Alina Habba warned to 'stick to the facts' by judge after attack on AG Letitia James

During closing arguments in Donald Trump's $370 million financial fraud civil trial, attorney Alina Habba was given a warning by Judge Arthur Engoron as she tried to impugn the reputation of New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Earlier Engoron had a back-and-forth with Trump attorney Chris Kise when the judge refused to allow the lawyer to claim his client is an "industry expert" in the real estate field, an exchange that CNN's Paula Reid speculated "likely got under Trump's skin."

According to MSNBC's Lisa Rubin, attorney Habba also was called out by Judge Engoron for launching a personal attack on AG James.

In a series of posts on X, Rubin wrote, "Alina Habba, prowling the well of the courtroom, said this case started before Tish James was elected, pointing at the Attorney General. Engoron reminds her to stick to the facts, which she says she is trying to do, but that James’s conduct is part of the factual record."

Habba added that she thinks the state is trying to pull one over Engoron while alleging that James "has not proven her case in the 44 days of this trial," while also informing him that estranged Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen believes the judge to be a "pushover."
