When The Sopranospremiered on HBO in 1999, many had no idea just how big the show would become. It quickly cemented itself in American pop culture history thanks to its gripping storytelling and talented cast, and has become must-watch TV despite being off the air for nearly two decades.
Jan. 10 marked 25 years since the show premiered, and the cast came together to celebrate to occasion in a big way. Their so-called "Family Dinner" took place in a venue decked out with references to the Emmy-winning series and a menu inspired by the show. Cast members including Steve Schirripa, Lorraine Bracco, Ray Abruzzo, Aida Turturro, Vincent Pastore, Jason Cerbone, Federico Castelluccio, and Dan Grimaldi were all in attendance at the family affair.
To mark the big milestone, Max launched its The Sopranos: 25th Anniversary collection, which includes 15 deleted scenes, including three that have never been seen before. It also contains more than five hours of behind-the-scenes content highlighting the cast.
Fans in New York City are extra lucky, as the renowned Italian restaurant Da Nico will feature special Sopranos-inspired menu items like Carmela's Baked Ziti and Satriale's Special Caprese from Jan. 11 through Feb. 4. Meanwhile, cast members Robert Iler and Jamie-Lynn Sigler will release a special 25th anniversary edition of their podcast Not Today, Palon Jan. 18 where they'll reminisce on their roles as AJ and Meadow Soprano, respectively, and how they essentially grew up on TV.
