I didn’t want a mortgage so I built a tiny home from a £30k shipping container – with so much storage I can’t fill it
WITH more of us struggling to get a foot on the property ladder, it’s no wonder that people are finding alternative ways to get their dream home.
One fitness fanatic took matters into her own hands though, making an incredible tiny home out of an old shipping container.
It isn’t Paige Mills first foray into property either, as the Aussie influencer has previously renovated other properties – including a home in Victoria which she transformed into a AirBnB.
Not content with making over the family home, she later discovered a love of turning old shipping containers in to amazing spaces.
Her passion began back in 2022, when the bodybuilder decided to covert one in to a custom fitness studio rather than renting space at a gym.
Though the container didn’t look that unusual from the outside, Paige had fitted neon lights, floor to ceiling mirrors and endless equipment in to the 40ft space.
Demand for the space sky rocketed and the content creator saw an opportunity to add even more properties to her growing portfolio.
Rather than getting a mortgage, the trainer sold her beloved gym and invested the money into a new shipping container.
Having learnt so much on her previous build, the fitness influencer was able to do the majority of the work herself and sourced second-hand items to furnish it.
Whilst it might not be a conventional home, Paige now has a custom built home for AUS$30,000 (£15.7k) and says she struggles to know what to do with all the storage.
Sharing the tiny home on her Tiktok channel, @bikerbiddie, she revealed that she’d even managed to save money by reusing paint from previous projects.
“I used black exterior house paint on here that I had left over from one of my AirBnbs,” she explained, as she showed off her stunning matte black kitchen cabinets.
Peaking inside, there was drying rack she’d made in one of the drawers as she’d installeed ‘way more cupboards’ than she needed.
Full furnished with a stove top, full sized sink and oven, her kitchen rivalled those featured interior design magazines.
However, the best was yet to come as the proud homeowner showed off her bedroom and it stunning circular window.
Lifting up her large double, she showed off the extra storage she had lurking underneath and told fans that she added a custom headboard to make the space extra cosy.
Even the bathroom felt spacious with Paige showing off the huge shower and mirror as she gushed: “My mum has a townhouse and our bathrooms are the same size.”
Outside there was even more room to grow, with the influencer adding that she hoped to put a deck on the land surrounding her gorgeous tiny home.
It is not surprising that the Aussie interiors expert had decided to keep her home for the foreseeable future, using the space as home when she is not overseas.
Replying to a fan, she explained: “I actually only meant to build it here then flip it, but now I’m moving overseas and want a hub here.”
Though it might not be the influencer’s forever home, we think we’d struggle to leave such a stunning space.
