Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.
The Golden State Warriors embark on a four-game road trip starting with Friday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00PM PT in Chicago and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State wrapped up their recent seven game homestand on Wednesday with a 36-point blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. The game was rough from the opening tip as the Warriors allowed 46 points in just the first quarter – the fifth time Golden State has allowed 40 or more points in a quarter this season.
A 176.9 defensive rating and a 100.0 offensive rating in the 1Q for the Dubs.

Outscored by 76.9 points per 100 possessions whewwwwww
Although the rest of the game wasn’t any better, the lone bright spot was the performance from Warriors’ guard Moses Moody. The third-year wing took full advantage of his extended minutes in Wednesday’s game, leading the team with 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 shooting from three. He was among the few players on the team who actually showed energy on both sides of the floor, but unfortunately, he was forced to leave the game early after tweaking his calf and will miss Friday’s game against the Bulls.

What to watch for tonight:
Friday’s matchup against the Bulls marks the first night of a back-to-back for the Warriors as they begin their four-game road trip. The Warriors are in desperate need of a change of scenery after finishing up a 2-5 homestand in embarrassing fashion — most notably, drawing the ire of the Chase Center crowd.

“Honestly, I’m booing myself. Booing our team in my head because of the way we’re playing so it is what it is… It’s our job to give them something to cheer about and we have not done that.”

Chicago, on the other hand, is trending upwards with a three-game winning streak. Their 18-21 record is good enough for 9th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They have an offensive rating of 111.7 (24th in the NBA), a defensive rating of 113.9 (15th in in the NBA), and they play with the slowest pace in the league (96.62). While six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan leads the Bulls in scoring with 22.0 points per game, it’s their fifth-year point guard Coby White who continues to impress with his bigger role on the team.

The Warriors will have their work cut out for them against a Bulls team with a breadth of scoring options at their disposal. Golden State specifically struggles to defend at the point of attack. This forces them to make help rotations where they significantly miss the direction and communication from vocal leaders such as Draymond Green and Chris Paul.

Hopefully, the team can show enough pride and energy on the floor, or else their downward spiral will continue as they inch closer to the February 8th NBA Trade Deadline.
It should be a fun game. Enjoy the basketball Dub Nation. GO WARRIORS!!!
