'Wear the stain of Trump': Utah senator skewered for endorsing ex-president
He's all in on MAGA, mean tweets and all.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who peddled false flag claims post-Jan. 6, says he's endorsing former President Donald Trump to become the next GOP nominee and ultimately the 47th president just days before Iowans brave the bone cold to caucus.
"I just endorsed Donald Trump," he tweeted. "Whether you like Trump or not, Americans face a binary choice."
He continued:
"Biden refuses to enforce our border, prosecutes his opponents, & embraces policies that make life unaffordable for hardworking Americans. I’ll take the mean tweets. I choose Trump."
And the tweets flurried like an Iowa snowstorm, but whether they were "mean" is maybe up to Lee.
Former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh took the opportunity to respond, tweeting: "Dear @BasedMikeLee, you used to be my favorite U.S. Senator. Because you revered the Constitution. But no longer. Because you cannot support Donald Trump AND support the Constitution. You just can’t. You sold your soul. Shame on you."
"You are a pathetic, Renfield-esque coward who lies constantly to your constituents and the rest of America," wrote @AntiToxicPeople on Twitter/X. "You will wear the stain of Trump on you every day for the rest of your life."

"I've been a supporter of yours for quite a few years Mike, but I gotta tell you this is pretty disappointing," posted Mt2Aguy
"So…you’re all talk," wrote @Real_Miss_Kim. "Embarrassing. Thanks for showing us who you are. [peace sign emoji] (Perfect example of why nothing gets done in DC…..cowardice)."
Another characterized Lee's decision as a selfish one.
"You’re not a conservative," reads a tweet by @SeaGlass1115. "You’re only interested in your own agenda. You know exactly who Trump is and you’re ignoring that for personal gratification. What a monumental disappointment you are."
Some even came with pointed jokes.
@GeniusKhaan wrote: "Kinda jumping the gun 'eh Mike. Did Don Jr. promise you a new pool or an autographed picture of DJT at Mar-a-Lago?"
Some patted Lee for backing Trump. "Thank you, but the tweets weren’t even mean. #Trump2024," wrote @TrumpGrlOC.
