Why Princess Kate didn’t go to Balmoral with Prince William to see Queen before she died
A NEW bombshell book has revealed the real reason Princess Kate didn’t go to Balmoral with Prince William to see the Queen before she died.
Previously it was believed that the Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle had been told by Charles not to come – using the excuse of royal protocol.
However, a new biography now claims that the King never asked Kate to stay away.
‘Charles III: New King, New Court. The Inside Story,’ by Robert Hardman claims that Kate decided herself to stay home with her three children.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had been set to start their school, Lambrook, on September 8 – and Kate thought they should have at least one parent home with them.
The book reads: “It was by luck rather than judgement, but it made it a lot easier to tell Harry that he was coming alone”.
It adds: “Like the late Duke of Edinburgh, she [Queen Elizabeth] did not like a queue of family well-wishers flocking to her bedside when ill”.
Meanwhile, Harry had been at Frogmore when Charles told him in a phone call from the dying Queen’s bedside not to bring Meghan with him to Balmoral.
Out-of-favour Harry was also refused a seat on the RAF plane that took his brother Prince William and his uncles Prince Edward and Prince Andrew up to Scotland.
Harry and Meghan had without consulting the rest of the family, that they would be “travelling to Scotland” together.
But Harry agreed to go alone after the intervention.
As a result, he had to find his own plane and the delay meant he did not arrive at Balmoral until 7.52pm — nearly 90 minutes after it was announced to the public that the Queen had died.
At 8.20 am — just over 12 hours later — he was back on the road to Aberdeen Airport to catch the first BA flight to Heathrow.
It comes after a historic memo revealed the Queen’s final moments were painless as she “slipped away” and “wasn’t aware of anything”.
The Queen’s most senior staff member Sir Edward Young has described the moment of her death.
The Queen’s dedicated private secretary was at Balmoral during the passing of Her Late Majesty on September 8, 2022.
In an extraordinary and deeply poignant memo, he described the hours until she took the last breath.
Devoted Sir Edward Young wrote: “Very peaceful. In her sleep. Slipped away. Old age. She wouldn’t have been aware of anything. No pain.”
The historic document, now stored in the Royal Archives, has been kept confidential until now.
