I got a whole bag of Asda food for just £3.30 – it’s worth five times as much and was really fresh
DESPERATELY need to do a food shop but strapped for cash after an indulgent Christmas and New Year?
A mother and daughter duo have revealed how they managed to nab a whole bag food of food from Asda for just £3.30, five times less than what it was actually worth.
Sarah and Lily, shared the nifty hack via a video posted to their TikTok account, @sarlil.tgtg where they often posts budget food hauls.
To get a whole bag of food for such a low price, the thrifty shoppers used the Too Good To Go app.
Too Good To Go is a food waste prevention service, where supermarkets and restaurants with surplus, unused stock can sell it off for cheap, rather than letting it go to waste.
Customers can select what items they want via the app and can head to the store/restaurant to collect it.
Popular retailers using Too Good To Go include Pret A Manger, Aldi and Greggs.
As the cost of living crisis continues to bite and people struggle financially after a costly Christmas, it’s a great way to still treat yourself without having to splash out.
In the video an excited Lily held up an enormous bag of food.
She said: “There was so much stuff they had to put it in a bin bag, I’m so excited for this because we’ve never had a bag anywhere near this big”.
Amongst Lily and Sarah’s stash was some baguettes, which Lily remarked smelled amazing and were freshly baked, fruit and pasta salad.
The pair seemed absolutely delighted with their haul, which should have cost them £15 and said that there was so much bread they’d have to give it to friends and neighbours.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Sarah and Lily’s stash.
One user said: “This is beautiful, I love bread”.
Another user added: “It’s only a good deal if you’re actually going to eat it all.”
