Masked Singer fans ‘work out’ who Piranha is – and it’s an X Factor winner
THE MASKED Singer fans are convinced that an X Factor winner is hiding behind Piranha after they showcased their impressive vocals.
The character had the judges in shock as he took to the ITV stage to perform a belting rendition of hit track It’s All Coming Back to Me Now by Celine Dion.
The Masked Singer see’s top stars hide their identities under huge masks as they compete in the singing competition.
But judges Davina McCall, 56, and Mo Gilligan, 35, were left completely open-mouthed when the underwater creature first started to sing.
However, some viewers recognised the voice straight away as X Factor winner Matt Cardle, who won the singing competition in 2010.
One wrote: “Piranha sounds like Matt Cardle to me?”
A second posted: “I so want piranha to be you Matt Cardle,” while a third shared: “Masked Singer UK piranha is Matt Cardle … got to be.”
A fourth commented: “The voice also sounds like Matt Cardle for Piranha.”
“Someone’s just said Matt Cardle and now I feel like I can’t unhear it,” this viewer added.
While another suggested: “I am incredibly torn between Danny Jones and Matt Cardle for Pirahana.”
After a mention of ‘motion in the ocean’ as a clue and impressive vocals, McFly fans took to social media with their guesses.
Devotees of the band are “convinced” that the identity is that of Danny Jones, 37.
Pointing to several clues, one viewer wrote: “I heard ‘motion in the ocean’ as a clue and was like ‘not to be that annoying mcfly stan but thats a mcfly album’ and then mr Danny Jones opened his mouth and tah dah! #maskedsinger.”
Another echoed: “Any McFly fan knows without a doubt that this is @itsDannyJones on the Masked Singer go get em mush.”
“Another edition of Masked Singer started and surprisingly this voice sounds sooo familiar… anyone else thinks that Danny is disguised as the Piranha?”, asked a third user.
It’s not the first time a member of a noughties group entered the long-running competition.
Charlie Simpson, 38, from rival band Busted won the fourth series of the hit ITV show.
Previous contenders also included the likes of Westlife singer Mark Feehily, 43.
