Afghan Banker to Invest $10 Billion in Afghanistan Soon
Mirwais Azizi, an Afghan banker and entrepreneur, has announced the opening of a relief settlement for earthquake victims in Herat province’s Zinda Jan district. He also mentioned his intention to invest roughly 10 billion dollars in Afghanistan soon.
This Afghan merchant made these remarks during the inauguration ceremony of a relief settlement in the village of Siah Ab, Zinda Jan district, Herat, on Friday, January 12th. The newly constructed relief settlement comprises 220 residential units and was completed by the Azizi Foundation, later handed over to the earthquake victims of Herat.
It’s worth mentioning that this settlement, named “Azizi Town,” was built in Herat province for 200 million Afghanis.
Furthermore, during the opening of this settlement, the Afghan merchant mentioned his intention to invest approximately 10 billion dollars shortly in the development of railways and electrical energy.
It is noteworthy that Azizi Relief Settlement is the largest in earthquake-affected areas of Herat, equipped with a school, clinic, playground, and water well for the recent earthquake victims.
Mr. Azizi’s announcement of the opening of this settlement and his investment of 10 billion dollars in Afghanistan comes at a time when Farhad Darya, a renowned Afghan singer, also reported the completion of a project to build 37 emergency shelters for Herat earthquake victims with nearly 70,000 dollars in “public donations and artist solidarity.” However, the construction of these homes was met with widespread criticism.
