Newcastle 2 Man City 3: Super sub Kevin De Bruyne rescues three points with goal and brilliant last-minute assist
KEVIN DE BRUYNE has returned to action and returned to the goals for Man City in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United.
A Premier League thriller played out at St James’ Park and De Bruyne made sure his side didn’t leave without any points.
It was a “start as you mean to go on” kind of game when Newcastle put the ball in the back of the net after just over a minute through Sean Longstaff.
But VAR put an end to the fun when they ruled it out for offside.
To make matters worse City goalkeeper Ederson picked up an injury following a clash with Longstaff in the process and was substituted as a result.
The game kicked on from there as City went ahead thanks to a stunning goal from Bernardo Silva.
But Newcastle hit back with goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in quick succession.
And after continuous pushing from Man City to no avail, Pep Guardiola turned to De Bruyne to draw up some magic.
The Belgian superstar returned from his long-term injury to bag score a superb goal just five minutes after coming on.
City then managed to run away with all three points when Oscar Bobb scored a 90th minute winner for the treble winners thanks to a De Bruyne assist.
