Dancing on Ice’s Amber Davies hits back at fix claims and insists West End career DOESN’T give her advantage over rivals
DANCING on Ice’s Amber Davies has hit back at fix claims, insisting her West End career doesn’t give her an advantage over rivals.
After finding fame on Love Island‘s 2017 series, Amber, 27, has gone on to forge a successful acting career starring in musicals including 9 to 5, Back to the Future and Pretty Woman.
She even trained at the prestigious performing arts Urdang academy in London, whose patrons include Arlene Phillips, Wayne Sleep and Brian Friedman.
Her history in showbusiness has caused some Dancing on Ice fans to give her stick for having a ‘headstart’ in the competition.
But Amber has defiantly responded, telling The Sun and other press, “People have said, ‘Oh, you know, because you’re a dancer, can you put that on the ice?’
“And like my first thing was I had to scrap all my dancing technique because everything on ice is down, bent knees, everything, your weight forward.
“The only aspect I’ve been able to add is the performance.
“So from from my neck up, you know, that’s… I think that’s going to be my saving grace of the show because my skating skills, they’re okay. They’re not Greg standard, put it like that.
“But yeah, I think my saving grace is going to be my face and I think that is down to my training, which I’m so lucky I’ve got now that I’m in this competition.”
This Sunday, she is among the brand new lineup of celebrities taking to the rink for this year’s series of the ITV programme.
Other stars taking part in week one include former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, boxer Ricky Hatton, Olympian Greg Rutherford, S Club singer Hannah Spearritt and Emmerdale actress Roxy Shahidi.
The following week, radio host and former Big Brother contestant Adele Roberts will be making her skating debut, along with actress and TV presenter Claire Sweeney, Olympic skier Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, comedian Lou Sanders, Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire and ex EastEnder Ricky Norwood.
