Shock exit for Coronation Street legend as he gets news from daughter abroad
VIEWERS have been expecting for two characters to jump into bed together.
Next week, one stalwart leaves Coronation Street as he hears from his daughter who moved abroad. But what will his wife get up to?
Steve McDonald (portrayed by Simon Gregson) has been clear about the state of his marriage with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) during a discussion with his pal Tim Metcalfe and he’s facing some serious issues.
The pair have always had a rocky relationship from their first one night stand which led to the birth of their daughter Amy to their explosive 2018 wedding, the second of its kind for the couple, which ended in an altercation between Tracy and Leanne Battersby.
But in recent months, Steve revealed that Amy’s recovery from her rape trauma has stirred things up at No.1 and what better idea for soap bosses than to bring in another hunk Tracy can find comfort with?
Actor Matt Milburn recently reprised the role of former Weatherfield football played Tommy Orpington and he’s been tipped to embark on an affair with Tracy Barlow.
How will it play out? The mystery begins to unfurl next week on ITV.
Coming up, Steve is torn between spending time with his idol Tommy Orpington and his daughter as Emma Brooker phones and invites him to spend the week in France.
Regular viewers of the Manchester-based program will remember that Emma Brooker left the cobbles in April, 2022, after four years to head to Australia with her boyfriend Jon Spear.
Steve eventually makes the decision to leave for France and as he climbs into the taxi taking him away from Weatherfield, he watches with envy as Tommy pulls up in his van outside No.1.
His pals Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) head over and fawn over Tommy, hoping to drag him into the pub but Tracy immediately sends them packing.
It’s clear there’s a spark between her and Tommy – but will anybody notice and tell Steve?
This remains to be seen but, in other scenes, the tension builds up as Tracy gives Tommy a ticking off over his timekeeping.
Tommy compliments her on her outfit to make it up to her and Tracy is secretly thrilled.

In the flower shop, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) enthuses about Tommy Orpington and how sexy he looks in his overalls.
This prompts Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) to take action as she suggests to Tracy that she should do some matchmaking for Toyah and Tommy.
However, Tracy has other plans and the claws come back out as she warns Toyah off, claiming that Tommy’s a terrible womaniser and not to be trusted.
Back at No.1, Tommy admits he fancies Tracy but does Tracy feel the same?
Will the pair act on their feelings or remember Steve is part of the equation?
