NATIONAL SUMMARY
A significant storm will bring a large area of precipitation
from eastern Iowa through southern New England and south
into much of the South Central states today. Rain will soak
areas from Texas to Pennsylvania. Locally gusty
thunderstorms will occur in the southern part of this zone.
At the same time, a swath of ice will extend from Illinois
to parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts, with several
inches of snow from Iowa and Wisconsin to upstate New York
and western New England. Rain showers will also dot coastal
areas of the Southeast and will be most numerous in Florida.
Meanwhile, portions of the West will get areas of rain
with snow, generally limited to the highest elevations of
the Southwest and parts of the northern Rockies. At the same
time, much of the northern Plains will stay dry.
