Suspect Wanted in Killing 8 People in Illinois Is Dead, Cops Say
The suspect wanted in the shooting of 9 people, 8 of which were fatal, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday after being located by U.S. Marshals, police confirmed.
Romeo Nance was found at approximately 8.30 p.m. by U.S. Marshals near Natalia, Texas, just hours after police in Joliet, Illinois, warned locals to remain vigilant as he remained on the run.
Officers continued hunting for the “armed and dangerous” man who is believed to have been involved with at least eight shooting deaths in the previous 48 hours. The ninth, a shooting in Joliet, was non-fatal, police said.
