Ruth Langsford apologises for This Morning blunder live on-air as she admits ‘force of habit’
RUTH Langsford issued an on-air apology after branding her live This Morning blunder “a force of habit.”
The ITV presenter, 63, was in the Loose Women hot seat on Tuesday.
Yet when This Morning anchors Sian Welby, 37, and Dermot O’Leary, 50, crossed to the studio for the preview, Ruth appeared to get tongue tied.
Wearing a sharp pink suit, the broadcaster veteran looked straight at the camera as she said: “Coming up today on This Morning …
“Oh not This Morning, you are This Morning.
“Sorry, force of habit.”
Ever the pro, ex This Morning anchor Ruth brushed over the mishap and continued to preview her ITV programme.
Back in 2020, the daytime TV show’s fans were left furious and vowed to boycott the TV staple after Ruth and husband Eamonn Holmes, 64, were axed from their Friday presenting slot.
They were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot in a major shake-up – with today’s blunder likely to have been awkward for him too.
At the time, one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Absolutely disgusting that This Morning have dropped Eamonn and Ruth. Two of the greatest TV presenters this country has ever seen. I will no longer be watching Fridays, or for that matter, any day.”
A second lamented: “Friday is the best programme of the week with Ruth and Eamonn, won’t be watching in the summer then!!”
Ruth then confessed she had no idea the pair were about to be culled by show bosses in an interview with new! magazine.
When asked if the show was headed for a shake-up, Ruth told the publication: “There’s always talk, I don’t know. Not that anybody’s told me.”
Insisting that she had no concerns about being given the boot, Ruth later added: “I think I am very good at what I do, and as long as they want me I’ll be there.
“I’ve been doing it a very long time and it seems we’ve been very popular, so I presume all those things will be taken into consideration.”
Eamonn and Ruth had presented Friday’s episodes of This Morning since 2006.
While Ruth stayed in the ITV fold with her work on Loose Women, Eamonn switched to the breakfast anchor role at GB News.
Meanwhile, it was not the only blunder on Tuesday’s This Morning.
Fans branded the Spin To Win competition segment as “embarrassing” after caller Jane struggled with the answer – despite being given a host of tell-tale clues.
