I unblocked my toilet without a plunger using a $1 kitchen essential – I was amazed it worked and it only took seconds
A CLEANING guru is feeling flushed with success after she unblocked her toilet with a $1 kitchen essential.
There was not a plunger in sight with this unusual hack.
Nonetheless, she was amazed when it worked and it only took seconds.
Tanya Home Inspo (@tanyahomeinspo) admitted to being “amazed,” when she saw how effective it was.
This lady has christened herself the “Queen of Hacks.”
Her TikTok is devoted to cleaning tips and tricks and she has a huge following of 783,000 likes.
She’s seen it all in her time, but she was stunned by this hack.
“Unblock your toilet using cling film,” she said in her post.
Blocked toilets can be stomach-churning at the best of times, but not with Tanya’s tip.
Pushing the toilet seat in an upwards position, she wrapped saran wrap firmly and tightly over and across the rim.
Once this was completed, it was time to flush but with one proviso.
“Flush the toilet then push down on the cling film covering the rim,” she instructed.
The blockage disappeared immediately and she gave it a big thumb’s up: “It works.”
One commenter tried it out and was delighted to report back: “I didn’t have a plunger and this worked perfectly.”
According to ToiletSeek, the saran wrap mimics how a plunger works by sealing the drain opening and creating a vacuum.
They said: “All you need is to wrap the toilet bowl tightly with the saran wrap to ensure no air gets into or out of the toilet.
“Press on the wrap then flush to initiate gravitational force which plunges the toilet, hence, dislodging the clog.”
