I tried a $7 TikTok viral sheer top to see if it was legit – it looked cute but like it would only last a single wash
A YOUTUBER has given her honest appraisal of a $7 TikTok viral sheer top.
She wanted to see if this fashion item was legit and, on first appearance, figured it was cute.
But on closer examination, felt it would only last a single wash.
Nonetheless, Alisa Marie (@AlisahMarie), who has 8 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, admitted she would be wearing the brown ruche top again.
This lady loves a shopping haul, and she was keen to see how her item from TikTok held up.
“We all know I love shopping, we know it’s like my hobby,” she said in her post.
I am testing and reviewing products from the TikTok shop [and] we’re about to see if TikTok has been lying to us or not,” she revealed.
“Is TikTok shop legit? They constantly have coupons and discounts and like what’s the truth?”
So, gleefully setting herself up as a guinea pig, she tried out her TikTok fashion item.
“This is my first time trying anything clothing-related from the TikTok shop and I am really curious,” she said of the sheer camisole.
First up, there was an issue with sizing: “There’s no way this is a medium. It looks small but it’s super stretchy.
“It definitely feels exactly equivalent to some Amazon tops that I’ve purchased. It’s not the best material,” she surmised.
There were some positives, however: “It looks good though and it doesn’t smell.”
Alisa was beginning to see she got what she paid for.
“It’s cute and it definitely will not last long. It’s not an investment piece in any way, shape or form.
“But I would wear it again for sure. But again it’s only $7.
“I would only recommend it if your budget is extremely tight. I do think you could get better elsewhere.”
Longevity was another issue with this item, she was discovering.
“I really don’t think this will survive one time in the wash. That’s why I think is it even worth $7 if you only wear it once. I’ll give it 7/10.”
Commenters loved her frank review.
One person said: “I love the honesty girl! Like I feel like often people are just praising the products and I love this.”
It was a similar view from this person: “I don’t trust TikTok shop at all.
“Thank you for posting this. I actually trust influencers over just somebody posting to post. I understand both sides 100%.”
