I can’t stop painting everything beige, even the radiators… trolls call it ‘boring’ but I’m allergic to white
A DIY enthusiast has hit back at trolls who reckon her obsession with beige has made her new home look ”boring”.
If there’s one trend in the home interiors industry we’ve certainly seen over and over again in the last few years it’s the minimalist aesthetic, which features little to no clutter, clean spaces and, of course, a neutral colour scheme.
Although there has also been a lot of backlash, with people oftentimes dubbing the look as ”sad”, one woman who certainly can’t get enough of the calm aesthetic is TikTok user Alice Rose Buttery.
The young woman, who regularly shares home-related content on her page, recently revealed that she’s ”obsessed” with transforming ”everything” in her new build by painting it beige.
”At this point, nothing is safe – radiators, skirting boards, windowsills and doors are all getting painted,” she opened up in a video on social media.
Speaking of her obsession, Alice chuckled, explaining: ”I think I’m allergic to white woodwork.”
The once-white features around her property have since been painted beige, blending in with the neutral-coloured walls and wooden flooring.
Even the staircase, she proudly showed off in the clip, boasts calming beige shades that match perfectly with the carpet – also beige.
”I’m obsessed with painting the woodwork and the radiators in our new build,” Alice added in the caption.
But whilst the DIY fanatic and beige super fan may be all chuffed with the makeover, the reaction online was slightly different and not everyone was amazed by the transformation.
Dozens raced to comments, where the home glow-up was slammed and described as ”boring”.
One was lost for words, writing: ”How are you making it MORE beige and boring, I didn’t know it was possible.”
Another chimed in: ”It looks like nicotine stains.”
Someone else agreed, adding: ”Urgh. It takes away the contrast against the floor and kinda makes it look nicotine stained. Even the green is beige!”
”Why ruin it when it’s brand new?” a fourth wondered.
Luckily for Alice, whose page has won her close to a whopping 55k followers, there were also plenty of those praising her skills and the colour choice.
One fan of the aesthetic said: ”I love the colours that you used, beautiful.”
”Well done you… All looks lovely,” a social media user wrote.
”Looks amazing,” a fellow TikTok fan couldn’t get over the makeover.
Fortunately it seems that Alice is not bothered by the cruel remarks, as she also hit back at the meanies after taking the internet by storm.
”I think it looks amazing.”
