I’m an Irish gypsy and here are 4 reasons why I hate living in a house – it baffles me how country folk can do it
AN IRISH traveller has shared all of the things she hates about living in a house, and revealed why she prefers life in a caravan.
Heidi McDonngh Clee shared her reasoning via a video posted to her TikTok channel, where she is known as @h.mccc.
The mum of two often uses the account to share insights into what life is like in the traveller community.
Her videos have proved to be very popular with social media users and she has amassed over 50,000 followers on the video sharing platform.
Heidi grew up living in a trailer but has now moved into a house with her husband and two children.
The first thing that she dislikes about living in a house is that “nobody seems to know their neighbours“.
She explained that in the traveller community, people will pull up to a trailer site on the opposite side of the country where they don’t know anyone and will go out and talk to the other people on the site and make friends.
However, she has found that people living in houses tend to keep to themselves and not talk to the other people on the street.
Another thing that Heidi has struggled with since moving into a house is her children getting sick.
She explained that her children were never ill and never needed antibiotics when they lived in the trailer but said that this has changed since they moved into a house.
Heidi said: “I swear blind it’s the central heating that’s doing it, because obviously in a trailer you don’t have central heating.”
She added: “Houses are not healthy for you, no joke, they’re not healthy.”
Another thing that baffles Heidi about living in a house is that there is “no freedom”.
She explained that if you live in a trailer you can just up and move to another part of the country whenever you like.
However, you do not have the same luxury when you are tied to a fixed address.
Heidi’s final gripe is that she now never sees children playing outside anymore.
She explained that on traveller sites, the children are always playing outside and everyone is always in each others houses.
However, she said she never sees the children on her street playing outside.
Thankfully, Heidi and her family live in walking distance of a traveller site, so her children can go and play outside with the other traveller children whenever they like.
She added that she feels that there is not much of a sense of community on her street compared with on traveller sites.
Heidi’s video has clearly left many intrigued, as it has racked up almost 30,000 views in just a few hours.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Heidi’s revelations.
One user said: “I live in a house I can’t get my head around how people don’t speak to one another.
“I always speak to my neighbours but I don’t think i’ve ever seen them speaking to each other”.
Another user added: “I Love hearing about your life and the traditions.
“It’s fascinating and fair play to you for sharing.”
