I compared $311 of makeup to $11 in Dollar Tree finds – the cheap eyeshadow was a flop but I loved everything else
A MAKE-UP lover is taking bets on whether her dollar deals looked just as good as her name brand buys.
“Dollar Tree makeup versus my regular makeup,” said Yana (@yannalinnaa) in her new TikTok video.
Her cosmetic comparison started with a $1 BB NuColor foundation and a $29 Urban Decay buy.
She blended each brand of makeup onto one side of her face.
Next she grabbed a $1 stick concealer and $1 LA Colors brand powder – a stark contrast compared to the $22 concealer and $45 powder she held in her other hand.
Yana used a blush brush to apply her finds before showing another Dollar Tree LA Colors compact that she was going to put to the test next to a Patrick Ta blush.
Her glam game seemed to be just getting started as she couldn’t wait to find out what would look better – her dollar LA Colors highlighter or a $29 Glowish by Huda Beauty buy.
The makeup pro held up more LA Colors blushes and a $40 name brand find that she applied before moving on to another LA Colors highlighter and $31 Jaclyn blush.
The LA Colors highlighter and bronzer each sold for $1.25 Dollar Tree – and had mostly rave reviews.
“I am looking for more of the same shade now! Because I’m running out! Definitely in love with it!” wrote one enthused buyer.
“I’m impressed with the highlight. I have tried both and they both work amazing,” another satisfied purchaser chimed in.
Yana got her glow on to see which of her two faces wore it best.
The stakes were still high as a $1 eyebrow pencil was about to go up against a pricier $23 product.
An LA Colors eyeshadow palette in muted tones was no match for a much larger $34 buy with a wider range of colors – including sparkly varieties.
This Dollar Tree buy had lost the battle – but it wasn’t over just yet.
“If you just ignore the eyeshadow the Dollar Tree side looks just as good as the expensive one,” said one follower.
“For sure! Eyeshadow was definitely a flop,” Yana agreed.
She worked her eye makeup magic as she applied her mascara steal followed by her $20 find.
With her face complete – one side full of $311 face makeup compared to her $11 side – it was time to see which side had won the makeup war.
She had just one question – “Which side do you like more?”
And her critics didn’t shy away from giving their opinions.
“Wait but why does the Dollar Store side look so good,” exclaimed one fan of the more frugal finds.
“Dollar Tree for the Win!” another viewer concurred.
Still, others were rooting for the fancier face of makeup.
“Expensive side for the win. Definitely,” shared one emphatic follower.
“Your regular makeup looks smoother and more cohesive,” said another fan on team brand name makeup.
“Expensive side. The eyeshadow is patchy on the Dollar Tree side,” yet another agreed.
