Coronation Street’s Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby hints at shock exit after soap loses four stars in two months
CORONATION Street’s Harriet Bibby has hinted at a shock exit from the soap, which has lost four stars in two months.
The Summer Spellman actress, 25, recently left ITV viewers fuming when her character returned to the cobbles.
The teen is regarded as one of the programme’s most hated personalities, with fans hitting out at her recent reappearance.
Some even demanded she be axed from the soap over her behaviour towards her guardian Billy Mayhew.
But it looks like their wishes might be granted, if a recent interview with Harriet’s local paper is anything to go by.
She told The Lincolnite, “I am fully invested in Corrie and have not done any other acting bits.
“I don’t have any solid plans to leave the show, but there is always something in the back of my head that I would love to do more theatre work.
“I teach singing, so feed into my love of theatre through that.”
Summer had a difficult life with her caregiver dying of cancer when she was young, then later on battling bulimia and suffering a miscarriage.
She moved back in with Billy and Paul at the start of this year, but some viewers have not been pleased with the development.
Show fans have hit out at Summer’s behaviour since returning to her gaurdians, though.
Taking to social media, one person hit out: “I think Summer Spellman might be the worst character it television history… she’s some how worse than Skyler White from Breaking Bad and that’s takes some f***ing doing!!!”
Another added: “Summer is seconds away from saying a homophobic slur.”
A third complained: “I think Paul’s life expectancy of 6 months would have been longer if he wasn’t living with Billy and Summer.”
Someone else demaded: “Get out Summer, get out now!”
Viewers also think they have worked out a secret she has up her sleeve after analysing a clue amid her return.
When Billy asked for her help in the kitchen she was too busy on her phone to lend a hand.
Summer then rushed out of the flat, leaving audiences concerned that she might be indulging in another romance with a bad boy.
Other Corrie stars to have left in recent months include Ryan Prescott (Ryan Connor), Ram John Holder (Sarge Bailey), Erin Austen (Crystal Hyde) and Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow).
