Super Bowl suffers delay after partial streakers run onto field and are tackled by security as Mahomes watches on
ALLEGIANT Stadium security stepped up, quickly restraining two pitch invaders during Super Bowl LVIII.
The unruly spectators disturbed the title matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs in the third quarter.
Two men ran onto the field having entered it from the Chiefs end zone.
One of them took his shirt before being tackled to the ground by security.
“Oh, we got people on the field!” Tony Romo yelled as the incident occurred.
Jim Nantz chimed in, saying: “Oh my goodness, we do! We got a streaker on the other, well…”
And Romo observed: “There’s a partial streaker… Shirt off.”
The CBS color analyst then pointed out the announcers “can’t talk about that.”
Patrick Mahomes turned around to watch the guards intervene.
As did Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who was getting ready to attempt a field goal.
After a short delay, Butker hammered home a 57-yarder to reduce Kansas City’s deficit to 10-6 — setting a new record for the longest kick ever made in the Super Bowl.
A couple of drives later, Mahomes connected with Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a 16-yard touchdown to give the Chiefs their first lead of the game.
