Prince William was never going to see Harry – not after everything he’s done, royal expert says
PRINCE William was never going to see Prince Harry after years of attacks by the duke, a royal expert has claimed.
Writer and broadcaster Robert Jobson exclusively told The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson how William can’t forgive his brother.
Harry jetted into London from the UK on Tuesday after King Charles revealed he has been diagnosed with Cancer.
The duke just 26 hours after landing at 12.30pm on Tuesday – and flying out again on Wednesday at 1.30pm.
Harry met with his father for half an hour at Clarence House, in their first face-to-face encounter for 16 months.
It had been said Harry was open to a reunion with William, 41, but his brother made no plans to see him.
Robert believes William never had any interest in meeting with Harry after the duke attacked the prince and princess huge bombshells on Oprah, Netflix and in his autobiography Spare.
He said: “It’s a clear message there: ‘You’re certainly not forgiven and you’ve certainly done a lot of damage’.
“The fact that his brother didn’t even bother to acknowledge him – They were very close and he didn’t even bat an eyelid.
“There was no way that that was going to happen.”
In Harry’s biography, he claimed Kate made Meghan cry, “grimaced” when Meghan asked to borrow her lip gloss, and had a furious bust-up over comments about her hormones.
Meanwhile Harry branding Wills his “arch-nemesis” and was clouded by a “red mist” before he allegedly attacked him.
Jobson now believes Harry and William need to “grow up” and look after their father.
He said: “We just want Charles to be healthy.
“Focus on his health, maybe do a bit of painting, get people off his case.
“People keep coming in and asking him questions, putting things on his plate.
“This is why it would probably be quite good if William and Harry were not making the later stages of his life a misery, which is what he said they were doing.
“They’re not boys any more, they’re both men. It’s time to grow up.”
HARRY’S ‘MADE HIS BED’
Jobson added: “Harry’s gone. He’s made his bed, he’s going to lie in it – that’s it.
“But what could happen is what William did when they had that walk-about after the Queen’s death. There was a truce.
“They don’t have to do that, they don’t have to be so graphic. I think Kate said at the time it was the hardest thing she ever had to do.
“The two brothers have to bury the hatchet, say they’ll agree to disagree.
“Let’s agree not to talk about each other any more and let’s try to build the relationship.
“And the same with the King. Ultimately, they are men not boys.”
William returned to work last week as he prepares to lead the Royal Family through his dad’s cancer crisis.
He is said to “remain focused” on looking after his wife Kate, who is recovering from surgery – rather than burying the hatchet with Harry.
The fact that his brother didn’t even bother to acknowledge him – They were very close and he didn’t even bat an eyelid.
Robert Jobson on William and Harry
Yesterday Charles was seen for the first time since his diagnosis, heading to church with the Queen.
It comes as the King is expected to have further cancer treatment as an out-patient in London this month and the Palace has yet to set a date for his return to frontline duties.
Writing in a signed message released yesterday, the King gave thanks for the messages of support since Monday’s announcement.
Prince Harry's tense visits to Britain since Megxit
Relations between Charles and Harry were previously feared by some to be fractured beyond repair amid the fallout over their royal row.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun in December: “Charles and Harry’s relationship was at an all-time low before but this may have fractured it beyond all repair.
“It could spell the end game for them.”
Hopes of a reconciliation had been raised after Harry called Charles to wish him a happy 75th birthday last month and sent a video of the King’s US-based grandkids Archie, now four, and Lilibet, two.
And now, Harry has jetted back from the UK following his first face-to-face meeting with Charles for 16 months.
Here’s a look inside their fractured relationship since Megxit.
January 2020 – Harry and Meghan make their ‘Megxit’ flight, leaving for Canada, eventually setting up home in California, USA.
March 2021 – Harry and Meghan give their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially.
July 2021 Harry jets back to UK to join William in unveiling a statue to their mother Princess Diana in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
But sources claimed William didn’t want to attend the memorial amid their ongoing rift.
Pals said at the time: “William was still furious. He had taken the view that he’d only give so much. He just didn’t want to go there [with Harry].”
September 2022 – Harry jets to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral. Meghan Markle, who was heavily pregnant at the time, was unable to attend due to doctor’s orders not to fly.
A pal of Harry’s tells Omid Scobie Harry met the Queen privately ‘at least twice’ and spoke with Charles and William after the Westminster Abbey service.
Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between William and Harry as they share a private chat.
September 2022 – The duke claimed he found out Queen Elizabeth had died in an online news alert.
He jetted to Balmoral without Meghan, and claimed in Spare that she was told she should not attend by Charles.
Harry travelled on a separate flight to his brother William – who travelled with the rest of the family.
The duke wrote in his memoir: “When the plane started to descend I saw that my phone lit up. It was a message from Meg: ‘Call me when you get this.’ I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died. My father was King.”
Harry and Meghan were sat behind Charles at the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey.
March 2023 – Harry is told King Charles is “too busy” to see him while he’s in the UK for a privacy hearing, according to reports.
The Duke had jetted to the UK to attend a four-day preliminary hearing at the High Court in London regarding his battle with publisher Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over allegations of unlawful information gathering.
It was the first time the Prince was back on home soil since the Queen‘s funeral.
Harry flew back to the US once the hearing was over.
April 2023 – Harry has a “heart-to-heart” talk with his dad before agreeing to come to the Coronation in London
The Duke travelled alone to attend the ceremony on May 6.
Harry headed straight back to the US following the coronation in Westminster Abbey.
He did not appear to speak to his brother William or sister-in-law Kate Middleton at the ceremony – taking a backseat and sitting in the third row at the ceremony.
September 2023 – Prince Harry visits the UK for the annual WellChild Awards, a charity of which he has been patron for 15 years.
But the Duke is not thought to have met his father, as the King had “no time” in his diary to see his son, it was reported.
January 2024 – Harry flies to be with Charles after the monarch’s shock cancer diagnosis.
The two have their first meeting for more than 16 months at Clarence House, lasting half an hour.
Harry does not meet William and flies back to the US the following day.
He said: “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
And in the message, written from Sandringham, he added it was “equally heartening” that sharing his diagnosis has “shone a light” on the great work carried out by cancer charities.
He said: “My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”
His Majesty has postponed all frontline engagements while he undergoes cancer treatment.
He is expected to convalesce at Windsor Castle, Highgrove and Sandringham over the coming weeks and months.
The King and Queen were set to embark on a tour of Canada in May, which would have included trips to the Arctic Circle.
But the trip, coming after three successful state visits to France, Germany and Kenya last year, will not go ahead as planned.
