One dead after house fire in Bloomfield
One person is dead following a house fire in Bloomfield.
Officers around 10:30 p.m. responded to a home at 30 Alexander Road on a welfare check of a 21-year-old man and found the home completely engulfed in flames, according to the Bloomfield Police Department.
Police said they were unable to get into the home.
Crews from the Blue Hills Fire Department and the Bloomfield Center Fire Department responded to the home and began an interior attack which was complicated by stairs that were compromised in the split-level home, according to fire officials.
According to police, human remains were found in a downstairs bedroom during a search of the residence.
No other injuries were reported.
The home is expected to be a total loss, fire officials said.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Bloomfield Detective Unit, Blue Hills Fire Marshal and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
