Love was in the air at Fort Meigs Elementary leading up to Valentines Day 20 years ago – why not also in the trees? It might have been a flight of fancy, but Kris Young’s kindergarten class decided birds needed a sweet treat, too. Students strung Cheerios on a string to hang on trees, along with construction paper hearts printed with a special message. The hearts all said to the hungry birds: “This treat’s for you from me!”
