Sarah Payne’s killer Roy Whiting is stabbed and left covered in blood after attack in max security jail
SARAH Payne’s sadistic killer Roy Whiting was left covered in blood after being stabbed in jail.
The paedophile was attacked at HMP Wakefield – known as Monster Mansion – over the weekend.
It is understood Whiting was treated for minor injuries with police now investigating.
A source told the Mirror: “Whiting is hated in prison. He was stabbed and was covered in blood. They were trying to kill him.”
Whiting was caged for life in 2002 after murdering eight-year-old Sarah.
The fiend snatched the youngster as she walked along a country lane to her grandparent’s home in Kingston Gorse, West Sussex.
Whiting has been subject to a string of attacks in prison since he was locked up.
In 2020, The Sun revealed how he was knifed by fellow lags you screamed “you f***ing n***e” at him.
The monster was also beaten by Richard Prendergast and Kevin Hyden, who both admitted Section 18 wounding with intent.
The pair had sneaked into Whiting’s cell at the high security jail and attacked him before staff managed to intervene.
He was also previously stabbed with a sharpened toilet brush handle by double murderer Gary Vinter.
While in 2002, killer Rickie Tregaskis slashed his cheek with a razor blade – leaving a 6ins scar.
Sarah’s murder horrified the nation after she was abducted following a game of hide and seek with her brothers in July 2000.
Her body lay undiscovered for 17 days in a field near Oulborough – around 15 miles from where she disappeared in Kingston Gorse.
Whiting was convicted in December 2001 and is now serving 40 years for his crimes.
It emerged at the time of Sarah’s murder, he had a conviction for abducting and indecently assaulting another little girl.
As a result, the youngster’s family campaigned for Sarah’s Law, which allows parents, carers and guardians to ask police if someone in contact with a child has a history of offending.
A Prison Service spokesperson told The Sun Online: “A prisoner at HMP Wakefield was treated for minor injuries following an incident involving another offender.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further while the police investigate.”
