I DIY my own 4-ingredient toner with a cheap grocery store buy – it evens out skin tone and gives you a natural radiance
A SKINCARE fan has given the 411 on her four-ingredient DIY concoction for an even complexion.
She boasted that the skincare mixture, which includes one item from the grocery store, is sure to give a natural glow.
Melly Sandford (@melaniesandford18) filmed herself making the mixture in a video on TikTok.
“Here in my hand, I have the skins of a pomelo, which is really a big grapefruit,” she said.
“And I’ve been waiting for this day because I’m making my own pomelo skincare toner, and you can just use regular grapefruit,” she added.
She tossed the skins into a pot of water to boil up, saying she plans to boil them for approximately 17 to 18 minutes.
“But don’t strain it out when it’s piping hot like that because then you get burned,” she warned.
She strained the pomelo water into an old glass toner bottle from Lancôme.
Melly filled the bottle halfway, adding witch hazel for the other half and topping it off with rosewater.
“This feels really good,” she raved.
“Love the way this feels because it’s replenishing moisture back into my skin. I could feel it. But you can always rinse off with some water,” she added.
She specified the benefits of the homemade skin toner in the caption of the photo.
“It’s packed with Vitamin C and will help even out skin tone and bring out a natural radiance while also protecting your skin against free radicals,” she said.
“All you need is grapefruit peels, unscented witch hazel, and rosewater,” she added.
“You can use filtered water and a few drops of essential oil if you can’t find rosewater.”
The video drew in many viewers who gave their two cents, with one commenting, “Witch hazel is horrible for your face.”
“Not sure where you heard that, but it’s one of the most gentle and natural ways to tone your face. It’s a plant that has many medical properties,” Melly replied.
