I started a side hustle to be a stay at home mum – it makes me five figures a month with no qualifications or experience
MANY mums know the strain of wanting to stay home with their kids but also provide money for them by working.
Mum-of-one Jade has claimed her easy side hustle has enabled her to be a stay-at-home parent, but also rake in five figures each month – and you don’t need qualifications to start.
On her @digitalsheeojade page, Jade claimed: “Six months ago I decided to start a side hustle online selling digital products in the hope to make an extra £500 a month so I could continue being a sahm (stay at home mum).
“I can’t believe I’m saying this but 2 days ago I made £1,201 in a single day.
“I now regularly make five figures months, all whilst spending my days with my son.
“Here’s how…
“I created a digital product on Canva that solved a problem for my audience in my niche.
“It’s not complicated I swear.”
At first, her business was understandably slow.
Jade started selling her digital products on e-commerce site Stan Store and created a TikTok account to promote her work.
Jade added: “I had no experience or following before doing this, I literally started from zero.
“I made videos on TikTok talking about my products and then people started to buy from me.
“It was rocky at first and I had days when I wanted to quit.
“But I pushed through and now I no longer struggle, I no longer stress about work and I’m so much happier. I’m free.”
Six months down the line, she claims to rake in thousands each month, and has amassed 10,000 followers in the process.
Many people were impressed at the side hustle, and wanted to start selling digital products too.

If you are looking for some extra cash, there are numerous ways to start a side hustle.
And according to experts, if you opt for the right side hustle you could make up to £10k extra by working just one day a week.
‘Side hustles’ are on the rise in the UK, with over 20 million full-time workers admitting to working a second job to supplement their salaries.
SEO agency TRAFCK said global searches for ‘side hustles’ have increased by over 2,850 per cent since 2004 and shows no sign of slowing.
Although it’s worth noting that new HMRC regulations from January 2024, state earnings of more than £1,000 a year from side hustles must be declared. Failure to declare the income, could results in a minimum £100 fine, increasing by £10 a day for three months.
FIVE SIDE HUSTLES TO TRY
Furniture At Work has provided a list of the top five side hustles to earn you a little (or a lot) extra in 2024.
1. Selling clothes online
The popularity of second-hand clothes shopping is soaring among consumers and Vinted is the most downloaded shopping app in the UK.
How much you could earn depends on how much you sell – the average Vinted order value is £13. Selling just one item of clothing every month could see you earn an extra £312 a year.
2. Pet sitting
There’s year-round demand for pet sitters, making it a great option for remote workers and those looking to travel.
Depending on location and previous experience, the average rate for a pet sitter is between £10-£15 an hour. If you were to look after a pet for 12 hours a week, you could earn £9,360 extra per year.
3. Online tutoring
Depending on your qualifications and experience, you could earn between £15-£40 an hour tutoring GCSE and A-level students online. Tutoring two students for two hours each could net you an extra £160 a week, or £8,320 a year.
There are no specific training requirements across all companies, but you can usually expect to tutor students up to the level of your own qualifications.
4. Social media influencing
By starting a blog or creating a community on Instagram or TikTok, you can make money through brand outreach and affiliate marketing.
Nano-influencers, defined as having less than 1,000 followers, can command between £125-£250 per sponsored post. A single sponsored post a month could see you earn an extra £3,000 a year.
5. Freelance writing
Freelance writers and copywriters using platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr have the added benefit of being able to work anywhere, making it one of the most attractive side hustles to both remote and hybrid workers.
Freelance writers charge differently based on their experience, but the average hourly rate for high-quality written work is £50-£75. If you were to write one article a week, your income could increase by £3,900 a year.
