‘No chance’ – Sir Alex Ferguson makes a rather insulting claim about Tottenham Hotspur
Sir Alex Ferguson has been asked about Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of ever winning the Premier League, and he insists it will never happen. He even claimed Manchester United have a better chance of reclaiming the title than Spurs do.
Tottenham are flying high right now under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has transformed the playing squad, the approach to football, and the entire atmosphere around the club in such a short space of time.
After the win over Brighton at the weekend, Spurs are now in fourth place in the Premier League table once more. Above them, Liverpool sit at the top of the tree and are seven points ahead of the Lilywhites, while both Manchester City and Arsenal have a five-point advantage over Postecoglou’s side.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa occupy fifth place, just one point behind Spurs. But, Unai Emery’s team lost to Manchester United at the weekend, and the Red Devils are closing in on the top four.
Spurs will never win the title, says Sir Alex
When asked by Sky Sports about the future of the Premier League, and in particular, Spurs’ chances of lifting the top prize one day, Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson had bad news for Tottenham fans.
The presenter asks “Will Spurs ever win the Premier League?” and Ferguson simply replies, “No.” He then laughs, before offering an explanation.
“Seriously, when is the last time they won it? That’s a long time. But the opposition today, with Liverpool and Man City, they’re so powerful. Even for United, we’re now on the fringes.”
The presenter suggests Spurs are more likely to win the title than United, and Ferguson says, “No chance.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I don’t know if or when Spurs will win the Premier League, but we’re some distance clear of Manchester United and that particular project right now. I do believe it’s City or Liverpool’s year this year, but beyond that, who knows?
