Adirondack Theatre Festival announces 2024 lineup
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Adirondack Theatre Festival (ATF) is returning to Glens Falls for its 30th anniversary. On February 10, the festival also announced "Stories Start Here," the biggest independent fundraising campaign in the company’s history.
The “Stories Start Here” Campaign will support new audience development efforts as well as new plays and musicals. With the support, ATF will commission "Worth: An Intimate Exhibition," written and performed by "Ozark" star Jessica Frances Dukes, and a stage adaptation of Ken Tingley’s book "The Last American Newspaper."
"The 2020 shutdown permanently altered the landscape of the professional theatre field," said ATF Producing Artistic Director Miriam Weisfeld. "It’s going to take the biggest fundraising effort ATF has ever seen to invest in new art and new audiences and make sure ATF is here for the next generation. And we’re off to an astonishing start."
As for the festival lineup, the 30th anniversary season will open with the world premiere musical comedy "Todd vs. the Titanic" by the creators of "Murder for Two." The musical focuses on the sole survivor of an apocalyptic event in Schenectady trying to perform a large-cast “Titanic” musical by himself. It runs from June 27 to July 3.
ATF will then have a concert presentation of the new Broadway-bound pop musical "The King’s Wife" from July 19 to 21. The musical reveals the secret history of the first wives of Henry VIII.
The season will close with Jeffrey Hatcher’s new adaptation of Dial “M” for Murder, running from August 1 to 7. “This delicious season takes us on an epic journey from dazzling comedy, to breathtaking drama, to stylish thrills," said Westfild. "And it reminds us that great stories start here at the Adirondack Theatre Festival."
All shows take place at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls. You can buy tickets on the Adirondack Theatre Festival website, by calling the Wood Theater Box Office at (518) 480-4878, or in person at the Box Office at 207 Glen Street.
