Devastated Lisa Armstrong breaks silence on friend Robin Windsor’s shock death
LISA Armstrong admitted she was “absolutely devastated” at the death of former Strictly Come Dancing professional Robin Windsor as she opened up on her raw grief.
The BBC One show’s head make-up artist poured out her grief on her Instagram page after the dancer’s passing, aged 44, was announced on Tuesday.
Devastated fans exclusively told The Sun how Robin, who was Strictly Come Dancing‘s runner-up in 2012, was sent into a “downward spiral” following his axe from the hit series.
Now fellow Strictly stalwart Lisa, 47, who works closely with all the dancers and contestants, has revealed her pain.
She uploaded a snap showing Robin looking suave in his show promo picture, wearing a white shirt and black braces.
In her emotional caption, she wrote: “Absolutely Devastated……
“Robin you were truly loved and will be truly missed!!….”
Revealing her nickname for the Ipswich-born Latin and Ballroom star, she added: “RIP Bobby…” followed by three broken heart Emojis.
The dancer had previously bravely opened up on his battle with depression after being axed from the show following an injury.
He finished runner-up on the 2012 series with Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley and became one of the show’s most recognisable faces.
He first appeared on the 2010 season with Patsy Kensit, before partnering Anita Dobson two years later and Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden in 2013.
Robin also partnered Susanna Reid and Alison Hammond in one-off specials.
Susanna, 53, broke down in tears on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain as news of Robin’s death broke while she was presenting live on air.
Meanwhile, Robin left the show in 2014, claiming he was axed by bosses following a “horrible back operation.”
At the time, he candidly revealed how he found it difficult to watch the show after his departure.
The Burn The Floor dance company founder told MailOnline: “Leaving Strictly wasn’t my choice. I had a horrible back operation and they decided that they didn’t want to ask me back the next year.”
“It was probably for health and safety reasons, in case something happened, but I was physically fit. One of my best friends Trent Whiddon, who replaced me to dance with Pixie Lott, I wanted to watch and support him, but it broke my heart.”
His cause of death is not yet known yet his unexpected passing prompted a slew of adoring tributes from both fans and famous faces alike.
This included a message on the Burn The Floor Facebook page which said of Robin: “A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years – including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world.
“His stunning image attached with Jessica Raffa defined our company, colourful, extreme and sensual.
“His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation. He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever.”
