The Nation's Weather
The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, February 21, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A storm will continue to affect the West today by spreading
showers across much of the region. Runoff from prior heavy
rain may lead to flooding and mudslides, especially in
California. Pockets of steadier rain can form in Wyoming,
Utah and Colorado. Steady snow will spread across the high
elevations of this region as well. Elsewhere across the
nation, high pressure will provide dry weather. An exception
will be the risk of nighttime severe thunderstorms from
parts of the central Plains to the mid-Mississippi Valley.
Temperatures will continue to trend well above historical
averages across the southern Plains, getting into the 70s
and 80s in Texas. Much of the northern Plains and Great
Lakes will also experience temperatures 10-15 degrees
Fahrenheit above historical averages.
