Legendary Love Island star ‘reveals’ she was flown to South Africa as a bombshell – but never made it into the villa
A LOVE Island legend flew all the way to South Africa to be an unused bombshell.
Danica Taylor, who failed to find lasting love in season eight of the programme, was waiting in the wings for her chance to enter the All Stars villa but it never materialised.
The reality star shared a picture of herself looking glum on a return flight to the UK having been savaged by mosquitoes.
She wrote: “4 days in South Africa = tears and three huge mosquito bites on my forehead that swelled up my eyes an nose [laughing emoji].”
Viewers were sad that they didn’t get a chance to see Danica shine on screen, however, some were also relieved as they anticipated she would have experienced heartache again.
Sharing their theory as to why Danica was left out, one fan posted in a forum: “I guessed this was the case since Maya said all seasons would be represented in the cast. My guess is that they probably were going to send her in with Adam [Maxstead] but after Chris [Taylor] basically forced the producers to dump him, the numbers were off.”
Another suggested: “It wouldn’t have made sense for her to come in after Tyler [Cruickshank] left. I can’t really see her with anyone in there?
A third wrote: “I would have liked to see way more islanders come in, it’s such a bummer knowing she was there and didn’t go!! It felt very stale at points with hardly anyone coming in there mixing it up.”
Another said: “I am sorry, she is lovely. But islanders that had such a hard time forming a connection FOR WEEKS literally, they shouldn’t go back. Same as with islanders that went there twice or thrice.”
Danica wasn’t the only unused former singleton.
Theo Campbell also didn’t appear, though his absence was wrapped up in drama.
Former athlete Theo was ditched as an original All Stars contestant – in favour of Luis Morrison.
We revealed the 2017 star had his flight to South Africa booked and his bags packed hours before he was pulled from the launch show.
Love Island insiders claim Theo was dropped to make way for series one star Luis – who became the first Islander to leave the villa with Demi Jones.
“Bitter” Theo went on the attack, revealing he was downgraded as a bombshell.
Bosses told him he’d likely arrive in the villa during the first two weeks instead of being in from day one.
A villa source told us: “Theo was called in for meetings to do All Stars, but wasn’t keen on doing the show.
“He was finally convinced by producers so filmed his entrance video, pictures and passed all of his background checks including psych and health.
“He was packed and ready to go but three days before they said he was being replaced by Luis Morrison.
“Theo was instead given the option of being a bombshell, which he turned down.”
Hitting out online, Theo said: “Imagine wasting five days of your life after being persuaded to start Love Island, filming and the rest, for them to say a day before you’re suppose to fly out, nah come in 2 weeks.. huh? no thanks.”
