February has been a great month for 17-year-old central midfielder Ross Mclean as, not only did he score his first goal for the Queen’s Park B Team, he has also agreed a two year professional contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2026.
Queen’s Park Academy Director Tommy McIntrye said: “Ross has worked hard since he came into Queen’s Park and more than deserves his contract. Credit must also go to our under-18 manager Charley King who watched him playing for a Scottish Youth Football Association Select and brought him in on trial.
“Ross has learnt a lot about the tactical side of the game last season and built on that this season where has excelled with driving runs and finishing ability. We were all pleased for him when he scored for the B Team at Airdrie last week.”
Ross said: “I am delighted to sign this contract at Queen’s Park as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my journey of progression in terms of my ability as a player. Playing with the under 18s and having opportunities within the B team throughout the past year has been great for my confidence.
“I am really excited to be here for the next couple of years as it’s a club known for using their youth and that encourages me to push on and try to make my way into the first team as soon as I can.
“I would like to thank the coaches and my parents for their support during my time at Queen’s Park so far.”
Club President Graeme Shields added: “Since joining the Club at the start of 2023, Ross has impressed with his displays with the under 18s and B team. He deserves his extended contract and I look forward to seeing him develop further.”
