'Impeachment investigation is over': Jamie Raskin slams door shut on Biden probe
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) declared the House Republicans' impeachment probe into President Joe Biden to be all but finished on Wednesday after hearing closed-door testimony from James Biden, the brother of President Joe Biden.
As reported by Max Cohen of Punchbowl News, James Biden flatly denied that his brother had any knowledge of, or involvement in, any of his overseas business dealings, which have drawn scrutiny from congressional Republicans.
"Joe Biden has never had any involvement or any direct or indirect financial interest in those activities," he said in his opening statement. "None."
Cohen went on to report that Raskin came out after the testimony to claim that the witness hadn't done anything to move House Republicans' case forward, and he also said the GOP's efforts had been dealt a massive blow when FBI informant Alexander Smirnov got indicted last week for allegedly lying to investigators about Biden's involvement in James and Hunter Biden's business dealings.

"The impeachment investigation essentially ended yesterday," said Raskin, referring to new revelations that Smirnov allegedly told investigators that he had received information about the Bidens from sources that were linked to Russian intelligence services.
The Maryland Democrat also suggested that even Republicans now seem to know that the jig is up.
"There's a quality of just going through the motions here," Raskin told reporters, according to Cohen. "And, again, it feels to me as if everyone knows the impeachment investigation is over."
The House of Representatives launched an impeachment inquiry into Biden last year, but so far the investigation has not produced any clear evidence of a crime committed by Biden.
What's more, many Republicans in both the House and the Senate have expressed wariness about the probe, which they said has not yet produced evidence of an impeachable offense.
