I regret my ‘friendship tattoo’ – I deserve financial compensation for the tomfoolery and chokehold Tumblr had in 2016
A FORMER Tumblr girl believes she deserves financial compensation from the platform for her friendship tattoo.
She regretted getting the ink at the impressionable age of 18.
Taryn (@therealtarnanlamb) shared the bad tattoo in a TikTok video.
“Sometimes people ask me, ‘Taryn, you got any tattoos you regret? Maybe any you shouldn’t have gotten at 18 years old?’ and I think about that question,” she said.
“The answer is, f**k yeah, I do.”
She explained that at 18, she was “obsessed” with Tumblr.
“I was very easily influenced by Tumblr and during that era, lip tattoos were all the rage,” she said.
“I believe we should be entitled to financial compensation for the tomfoolery and the chokehold of Tumblr in 2016 and the effects it had on my wallet and life choices.”
After high school, her best friend planned on moving to Los Angeles, while Taryn was headed off to college in Oregon.
“We were like, ‘Let’s get lip tattoos together,'” she said.
The initial plan was to get matching heart halves so the other’s tattoo would complete a whole.
“When we pulled our lips down, the heart would be a full heart,” she explained.
The two friends got their ink done by a “really sketchy” artist in Portland who ended up botching —and breaking — her heart.
“Mine came out looking like the state of Nevada slash a chicken strip,” she said.
“Hers actually came out looking great, hers looked like a half-broken heart.”
Pulling down her lip, she showed off the botched heart. Although she had her regrets, she had no plans to remove it anytime soon.
“No one can see it so I don’t really care. But every time I go to the dentist, they’re like, ‘Excuse me, ma’am, what’s going on here?'” she said.
People were shocked, but mostly entertained, by her questionable tattoo decision.
“Once you said Tumblr I knew it was going to be good,” joked one commenter.
“I did not expect it to go this way but I am delighted,” said another.
“It’s giving pizza slice or the letter D,” quipped a third.
